Get High Resolution Photos And Edit For Free

October 24, 2010

*Notice additional information added in bold at the end of the
entry.

We frequently need photos to add a look of professionalism to
blog posts, articles, websites, or other sites. Where can we
get high-resolution photos and how can we edit them for
free?

Photoxpress is the best place I’ve found to get free photos.
The free version limits you to ten photos a day, but the
resolution is very high and it’s not common that a person will
need more than 10 photos a day.

Photoshop is an excellent software program for photo editing; but
what if you don’t have Photoshop and you’re not willing to pay
the money to get it?

Picnik is a great site that allows you to upload photos and
edit them. The service is free, easy to use, and provides
a number of editing options ranging from adding text, to
cropping, to adding special effects and features.

By using photoxpress and picnik together you can create high
quality customized photos.

There is also a picnik application that can be added to your
Facebook fan page. This makes it easier to edit your photos without
having to leave your fan page.

I hope this helps and thanks for reading,

(12/28/2010) Photoxpress has changed their pricing plans
since I created this post. Now, if you already
have an account you will continue to get the 10 free
photos a day. If you do not have an account you will
need purchase a paid version. If you don’t want to pay |
for the photos I would recommend going to stock.xchng
instead. They seem to be an excellent alternative.

7 Ways to Get Powerful Backlinks

October 17, 2010

Backlinks! How do I get them and why are they important?

Backlinks are links that come from another website to your site.

Search engines evaluate the quality of the site that is linking to you. If
the other site has a higher PR than your site does you will get brownie
points from Google and other search engines. If the site linking to you
has a lower PR than your site your PR could be lowered.

The more good backlinks you have the better your page ranking will
be. You could also say that the more good backlinks you have, the
more customers you will have.

There are several ways to get backlinks. Here are some of the
options available to you:

1. Write articles for EzineArticles and GoArticles. You will be able to
leave a link to your site in the author bio section.

2. Go to Yahoo Answers and Google Groups and find people asking
questions related to your industry. Once you find a good question
you can answer it and leave a link to your site. Make sure the link
is appropriate for the question being asked.

3. Make sure your website link is included in the yellowpages.com.

4. Make sure your website link is included in the website for your
local chamber of commerce.

5. Write a high quality blog. With time people who read your blog
will include links on their sites to your blog because they value your
opinions.

6.
Use social bookmarking tools to make sure your blog is seen. You
can use StumbledUpon, Technorati, Digg, and a host of other sites.
Google “bookmarking sites” and see what else there is for you to use.

7. Let everyone you know hear about your sites. Add the URLs on
your business cards, stationary, e-mail signatures and on anything
else people see. This will build awareness for you sites. If the
people you know are aware of your site there is a good chance
they will also eventually add links to you from their sites.

I recently heard of a company that annually charges $15,000 for
SEO purposes. The biggest thing they do for SEO is creating
backlinks for their customers. I did a search on one of their clients
that they have had for over a year. The search showed that their
customer has a total of one backlink!

That is pathetic! My blog currently has 33 backlinks and I’ve only
been writing for about three months! If you have someone “building
backlinks” for you consider doing a check to see if they are doing
their job.

You can check the number of backlinks to your site by using Site
Explorer
by Yahoo. “Explore” your URL and then click the “inlinks”
button. This will tell you how many backlinks you have to your site.
It will also tell you who is linking to your site.

Are Social Media Your Minions?

October 10, 2010

This post is very different from everything else I have done on this
blog; but it should help drive home the point that social media platforms
should work in unison and not independantly.

Here are three of the best minions I have ever had working for me. I have
given each one some orders. They are as follow:

Minion #1: Twitter – Twitter, when someone runs a Google search there will
be 10 results on the first page. Your job is to make my name, my
reputation, and what I have to offer appear as all ten of those top search
results. By doing this we can knock all opposition off the first page of the
search results.

Minion #2: Blogs – Blogs, your objective is to continually give the world great
information. Tell them what they want to hear and give them a longing to
come back to see what you have to say next time. Then, create interest and
desire within the reader. Persuade the reader that we are awesome and that
they will do anything for us. Convince them that they need us!

Minion #3: Facebook – Facebook, your mission is to direct our fans. If we are
needing to push them to our blog and feed them information you will give
them incentives to go there. If we need people to go to Twitter, to help
increase page rankings, you will convince the fans that they need to go to
Twitter. Do whatever is necessary to guide the world in the direction we
desire.

By having my minions work together I can create an effective plan for world
domination. If they do not work together I will be left with a team of
minions who are aimlessly trying to do something but will not be able to do
so effectively.

1. Use Twitter to get your company, products, and services all over the first
page of Google.

2. Use your blog to inform your target market and to create a desire for
what you have to offer.

3. Use Facebook as a way to guide your fans to do whatever it is that needs to
be done. This could be retweeting your tweets, posting comments on your
blog, giving feedback about a product, or something else. Facebook should
be used to direct your fans.

By making your social media platforms work together you will find your
social media campaigns to be much more successful than if they are not
working together.

Use your minions and rule the world!

Fan Page vs Website

September 23, 2010

Your business just made a website not too long ago. Why would you need
to have a fan page now?

From what I’ve seen a fan page is almost like another website. You can add
tabs, give promotions, say whatever you want [within reason] and you can
even insert a couple of PayPal applications.

The reason you want a fan page is because a fan page allows you to
interact with your visitors (fans). A website is generally a final
destination site that allows people to read about and purchase the products of
interest.

A website does not usually develop interest in or desire for the
products you sell. This is where a Facebook fan page comes in.

By having a fan page your company can talk about interesting
topics. Talk about the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the bed bug epidemic going
on the US and anything else that is deemed interesting. You can talk about
topics that are of interest to your target market. This shows that your
content is interesting.

Facebook vs Website

When you have a product you
really want to push you can
bring that up as a topic of
interest.

Now that people know you
speak about topics that are
interesting, and you have
developed a relationship with
your fans, you can more easily
convince your fans that your
product is both interesting
and desirable. From there you
can lead your fans to the
website or store to actually purchase the product that was pushed.

Facebook fan pages are used, unlike websites, to create targeted
relationships and to encourage product interest and desire to grow in
the minds of your audience.

You can just stick with a website, but why do that when you can use
Facebook to actually get people interested in what you have to offer?

I’m sure there are many other difference between a fan page and a
website. If you think of something that I didn’t talk about please
submit it in the comments field below. With any luck we will soon
have long list of pros and cons to a fan page.

How Are Customers Finding Your Competitors?

September 21, 2010

One of the best things you can do, if you want people to find you online, is to
find out which keywords people are typing in a Google search to find your
competitors.

There is an excellent tool that helps you find out what you need to use as your keywords in order for people to find you.

Go to Google AdWords and enter the website of your top competitor. Once
you do this you can hit the search button and
you will be able to see a list of all the
words that are used in Google searches to find
the competitor.

You can see how many times each word is searched, which words are used the most and how competitively your competitors are using those words to drive traffic to
their sites.

You need to find out what is working for your competitors and make those
keywords work for you. Some of the best places to incorporate your top
keywords include your websites, articles, blogs and Twitter bio.

By discovering the best keywords to use and incorporating those keywords in
your website and other sites you will be able to make major
steps toward catching up to your competitors and even surpassing
them.

Good luck with the keyword search!

7 Timeless Blogging Tips

September 19, 2010

Here are seven blogging tips that should be followed.

1. Post frequently.
The more often you post the more readers you will have. As people
read your blog you will grow a following. This will establish your
credibility and will show search engines that people have an interest in

Seven Tips

you and what you have to say.

2. Post on a schedule.
Select the best days for you to post new content. By having set times your readers will begin to establish a routine for when they will check your blog. Don’t make your readers take guesses as to whether or not you might have new information.

3. Vary your paragraph lengths.
Seeing a giant block of text can be daunting for some people when they know they have to read through the whole thing to get to the end. Vary  the length so as to subconsciously convince your readers that your content is varied and interesting.

4. Write content because you want to write it; not because you
have to write it.

If you are writing a blog entry because your on a schedule you might as well stop blogging. When you write something that you don’t have a passion for, your readers will pick up on that. Your readers will find your
post uninteresting and even boring. Write with passion and take the necessary
time to find information worth writing about.

5. Make the reader ask “what” at the end of each line.
Here is a link to a post that covers this issue. “Do Your Readers Lose Interest?

6. Submit your blog to IMAutomator.com and other
bookmarking sites.

Let other sites develop backlinks to your blog. This will show the search engines that your site is valued by the public. This helps with SEO.

7. Share your blog post on your appropriate social
media platforms.

Tell your friends and followers that you have a new post. Ask them to check
it out and give you feedback. This will increase your blog traffic and will
give you valuable comments on what you wrote.

Good luck with your blogging and I hope this helps.
